International Women's Day
I have an incredible job where I get to meet the most amazing women in the community, hear their stories, learn from them, listen to them and celebrate them and have the complete honour of photographing them! (it's hella awesome!)
Connecting with women and healing has been a focus of mine for the past few years, learning our truest nature, outside of competing, putting down or making anyone else wrong for their choices, but rather to connect and heal with each other. Holding space for another women while she shares her story, her pain, her fears and desires is incredibly empowering, for the women sharing and the women holding space. I have learned so much about what it means to me to be a women and just how incredible this journey has been and continues to be.
I have experienced motherhood, incredible sex, not so incredible sex, harassment, embarrassment of my body, shame, competing with other women (totally though this was normal) confusion about "girling" and so many roller coasters of emotion that I though were somehow wrong. So many experiences in my life led me to believe that I just lived in a "man's world" and that's just the way it is....hmm well fuck that sister! This line of thinking has kept me playing small, kept me from taking back my power and standing up for myself, and now this is my work. To free myself and others from the constraints of what "should" be, into a world of "want" to be. We get to choose what our life looks like, what we do and don't do with our bodies, tattoos...no tattoos, babies...no babies, you decide!
What would you LOVE? Truly what would you Love your life to look like?
Magic happens when we see people as people, and know that their is a multifaceted human being under the most exterior layer we wear and present to the world. Everyone has a voice to share and story to be heard, and I'm here for it, all if it without judgment and to heal on an even deeper level, because when one of us heals we all heal.
Thank you to all the amazing women in my life and welcome to all the new ones, let us shine brightly and celebrate with each other and for each other because You and I are one.
